On May 12, 2008, Governor Sonny Perdue signed House Bill 1100 into law which secured the foundation of our state’s film, television and digital media industry – the 2008 Entertainment Industry Investment Act. That signature was the result of countless hours of research, education, negotiation, meetings, consensus building and lobbying to craft and pass a workable and sustainable tax incentive that would attract the top entertainment companies in the world to Georgia. See the press release announcing the signing HERE. And it has exceeded expectations!
But as witnessed by other states who have seen their credits, incentives or rebates come and go, constant vigilance is required to protect the foundation that provides for billions of dollars of revenue and thousands of jobs; that is Georgia Production Partnership’s Job #1…to protect our production tax incentive. To do this, we need your help in raising additional money to cover our efforts to educate, inform and influence legislators to protect our investment in our industry.
In 10 For 10, we’re asking everyone who benefits from work being done in film, television, new media, gaming or other entertainment and digital media industry to take 10 distinct actions to support our work. In Action Item #1, please contribute at least $10 to sustain GPP’s efforts in this election year. We need 2,000 people or more to contribute at that level to prep our coffers for the work ahead. For those beginning their career, $10 may all that is available to invest but many of you have successfully established companies and careers – we would ask that you contribute multiples of $10 as you are able. Remember, this is an investment in sustaining your success as much as anything. Please give generously and share your investment on social media with #IgaveGPP10for10 and #GPP10for10campaign.
Thank you for supporting Georgia Production Partnership and the Production Tax Incentive!
